This February, all month long, we’re honouring the work of 28 inspiring leaders. Women who are drawing upon and celebrating their culture while making a lasting difference in their community using their gifts. From authors and teachers, CEOs to entrepreneurs, not-for-profit directors, artists, and more, these women are changing the face of leadership.

These are truly women to watch and veza community is so pleased to share their brilliance.

May their stories inspire YOU to rise.

Meet Malina Parmar.

Malina is a Freelance Event Producer, and COO of ManTalks. She describes herself as being a driven, hardworking, resilient leader who thrives on good challenges, and she’s always poking around the things she doesn’t understand so she can learn and grow. She takes everything she learns and all the tools that she has access to and uses them to build businesses and events that have a positive impact on people. Malina is committed to her friends, family, and community, and believes that above all, human connection is the most important thing we have. Life is so much deeper than what we typically show on the surface, and Malina wants to live a life full of deep, authentic connections.

So tell us, Malina: What inspires you most? What motivates you to get up every morning?

I’m motivated by the knowledge that I have one life, one shot to make a positive impact on others’ lives and to live my own life to the fullest. My biggest fear is regret: when I’m old, I don’t want to look back at my life and regret the things I didn’t do or try. I want to know that I didn’t hold anything back.

How do you feel that your actions teach or inspire others?

As cheesy as it may be, I follow the saying: “be the change you want to see in the world”. I love learning and teaching and I’m fascinated by business and leadership. Every day, I try to model leadership that’s resilient, empathetic, and determined.

What is one change you’d like to see in the world?

I want to see us build strong community again. As we all know, times are changing and the way that we interact with one another is changing rapidly. I don’t believe in looking to the past and lamenting about “the good old days” when things were different. Humans evolve and grow: it’s part of our DNA.

I’d like to see how we can grow with the times and use changes in technology and culture to grow together and create connection, rather than allowing these things to disconnect us from each other.

Which of your contributions to date have given you the greatest sense of pride?

I’m proudest of the little moments where I’ve shown up for the people in my life. I believe that it’s in those small moments that you can really make an impact. It’s the times that I’ve been there for those I work with to help push them through a challenge, or provided a shoulder to lean on when a friend was having a rough day. Those are the moments that build a life that I can look back on and be proud of. I can’t always control my situation, but I can always control my actions.
